Hurghada is the capital of the red sea province and one of the oldest tourist cities in Egypt.

It's name derives from ancient times, when it was called land of hor, after the god hours. Later, the western world named it hur's gate until it finally became known as Hurghada.

Hurghada known in Egypt as GHARDAGA, was just a simple fishing village. But now, with it's crystal clear water, untouched reefs and a multitude of ship wrecks, it has become one of the best Egyptian tourist destinations. The small town centre with it's bazaars, mosques and lively atmosphere reflects typical Egyptian life. Further inland lie the desert tours. Most of all Hurghada offers sunshine and relaxation- all u could want for a holiday.

With more than 20 km of hotels along the beach, Hurghada can satisfy the needs of every visitor, from scuba diving to windsurfing to desert safaris. One can choose from the finest 5 stars hotels to simple Guest Houses, and everything in between. Hurghada is in world renowned as the centre for some of the world's best Diving. Within a couple of hours from your hotel u can be amongst a group of islands that are the home of Dive states guaranteed to astound even the most experienced divers.

Hurghada is divided into 4 different tourist and commercial districts:
1- Hurghada town (1.dahar area-down town 2.sakkala-elmena 3.the village).
2- El Gouna (21 km north of Hurghada town).
3- Makadi bay (30 km south of Hurghada town) .
4- Suma bay (40km south of Hurghada town).

Activities:

1- Diving:
Hurghada is world renowned as a center for some of the world's best Diving. Within a couple of hours from your hotel you can be amongst a group of islands that are the home to Dive Sites guaranteed to astound even the most experienced divers.
Red sea is a true glory. It has so many secrets to reveal, take your time and let nature show u the quality, not just the quantity of what waits below the surface.
The dive sites vary greatly, from big walls that drop away below you, to coral gardens with feasts of color, tunnels and caves to explore, then plateaus and pinnacles to visit.


2- Safaris:
The Southern Red Sea, especially the Hurghada area, is known for its spectacular landscape, rich with colorful mountains and canyons.

Safari Operators in Hurghada arrange for magnificent safaris ranging from half a day to 4 or 5 days, even longer trips may be negotiated.
Participants may choose between Camels, Horses, Quads, and 4x4 Vehicles.
